The impulse to create is so much a part of me that I cannot remember when it wasn't there.

Growing up in Oklahoma and spending summers in Jackson Hole, Wyoming led to a lifelong interest in all things rodeo, “horsey” and Native American – often reflected in the subject matter of my paintings and murals. The human figure in general  – its plastic form and psychological dimensions – are also a source of infinite fascination.

I have been a full-time artist for over 40 years, have graduate degrees in fine art and art history and have studied at The Art Students League in New York . My work can be found in public and private spaces throughout the U.S. and abroad – including the homes of notables such as the actor Robert Duvall, The Honorable Kenneth Kaunda (former President of Zambia), Jacqueline Mars and Warren Buffett.

I have traveled extensively and, aside from several years in Africa, I have spent most of my adult life in the Washington DC area. I now live and work in beautiful Sedona, Arizona.

The artist Edward Hopper once said, "If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint."  Agreed!  My goal is to create work that so profoundly reflects my response to the world around me that others will be touched by it and want to share the experience

Painting "en plein air" is a new interest of mine.  I participated in the Pacific Northwest invitational Plein Air Festival in 2016 and  in the 2017 Sedona Plein Air Festival.
