About the Artist

The impulse to create is so much a part of me that I cannot remember when it wasn't there.

I have been a full-time artist for over 40 years, have graduate degrees in fine art and art history and have studied at The Art Students League in New York . My work can be found in public and private spaces throughout the U.S. and abroad – including the homes of notables such as the actor Robert Duvall, The Honorable Kenneth Kaunda (former President of Zambia), Jacqueline Mars and Warren Buffett.

I have traveled extensively and, aside from several years in Africa, I have spent most of my adult life in the Washington DC area.  After a decade or so of fun in the sun in Sedona, Arizona, I now live and work in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia in the shadow of the Blue Ridge.

The artist Edward Hopper once said, "If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint."  I could not agree more!  Painting is a deeply personal form of expression for me and, to my mind, there is no greater honor than when someone loves one of my paintings enough to make it their own.  

PAINTING "EN PLEIN AIR" IS A NEW INTEREST OF MINE.  I WAS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST INVITATIONAL PLEIN AIR FESTIVAL IN 2016 AND  IN THE 2017 SEDONA PLEIN AIR FESTIVAL.  MY PAINTING "ANGLE OF REPOSE" WAS AWARDED AN HONORABLE MENTION BY JUROR MATT SMITH IN THE 2018 ARIZONA PLEIN AIR PAINTERS ANNUAL JURIED EXHIBITION.
